Healthy Food Choices For The Elderly

When people age, their needs for nutrition change. It is important for elderly to eat healthy foods that are full of nutrients. Some medications, as well as illness, can affect the appetite of older people. To maintain health and independence longer, elderly people should make sure that when they do eat, that the food is good for them and will help maintain health. Healthy food choices can be made at home, in restaurants, and at the grocery store.

The types of foods that should be included in an elderly persons diet should include foods that promote the following:

Circulation (soy products, fruits, seeds)
Strong bones (cheese, milk, salmon, legumes, beet greens)

When healthy food choices are being made and there still seems to be diminished mental alertness, ask the pharmacist about the medications being prescribed and if they may be the cause. If yes, make an appointment with the doctor to discuss alternatives and any new medications that might be available.

Peptide Cell Therapy What Exactly Is It

What is peptide cell therapy? You may have heard the term but weren’t sure what it refers to. In order to understand this, one must first try to understand what a peptide is. A peptide can be defined as a molecule which is created by combining two or more amino acids. When there are more than fifty of these molecules than the result is said to be a protein, but if it is less then the proper term to use for it is a peptide.

Synthetic peptides are applicable for a wide range of purposes. The reason why peptide cell therapy works is because peptides can easily penetrate and dissolve in the human body. What’s more, you do not run the risk of your body rejecting peptides or experience any disorders caused by such therapy. Peptides can be used for treating a wide range of diseases and disorders such as dementia, diabetic foot, leukemia, cirrhosis, aging, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, kidney failure, and osteoporosis.

So why is peptide cell therapy so useful and effective and why do so many people swear by this therapy? The reason behind this is the nature of peptides. Unlike various other synthetic drugs, peptides do not change the rhythm of the biological processes happening in our bodies. The drugs that are made from peptides are quite good in the sense that they are organ specific. Therefore they will act directly on the organ that is targeted. What’s more, under no circumstances can this kind of therapy harm your body because they will only act to the extent where they can be accepted by the body!

Apart from aiding in cell therapy, peptides can also be used for diagnostic purposes since they can change color under certain circumstances. An example of the diagnostic purpose in which peptides are put to use would be how the chromogenic peptide substrate can be used for the purpose of detecting the absence, presence, or changes in the blood levels of enzymes which control our blood clotting ability and blood pressure. Peptides are also used for developing vaccines, hormones and immunogens.

If you take a look at some of the peptide drugs, you will find that these are either made from altered natural peptides or they are made from the peptides that are naturally existing in the body. Did you know that peptides can be prescribed to those patients whose body cannot produce enough peptides of their own? Yes, in such a scenario, the peptides that are naturally occurring would be prescribed to them because these are biologically active.

As you can see, a peptide is a very useful kind of molecule and it certainly has a lot to offer us. And that is why such molecules are used for the purpose of cell therapy.

Meditation And Meditation Music

First, I’m seriously wired by nature and am not someone who can stop thinking. I have learned to meditate very effectively once I learned some facts about real meditation.

Problem one is thinking that you can’t meditate, or it’s not real meditation if you have thoughts going through your head. You do NOT have to stop thinking, or empty your mind of thoughts…that will happen ON ITS OWN if you meditate correctly.

If you’re closed-minded, your ability to reach deep states of meditation, or spiritual connectedness, is restricted. This is the way we are designed…scientifically. Meditation at its core, is meant to slow down brain waves, whether you know it or not. It’s just like you may know how to drive a car, but have no clue what’s going on mechanically. People will meditate for relaxation, healing, spiritual connection, communication, access to the infinite field of consciousness…whatever your reason, it is all only attainable directly as a result of slowing your brain waves to a certain frequency range.

The four major brainwave states/frequencies are: Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta in that order. More info is available on the specific states via the link in my bio. Meditation is mainly attempting to bring the brain to the Theta and Delta states. This is where everything happens: the connection, communication, healing, access to the quantum field of consciousness. So the point is to slow your brain waves.

You do need time, especially if you don’t use tools to help you. It’s just like trying to relax, except much deeper. You need time to relax…and you can also use music or other tools to help you. Meditation music was what I found to be the most helpful for me. Real meditation music…like with binaural beats. The music is specially made to influence your brain to slow down…to chill out.

Watch on things that raise the rate of your brain waves, like certain colors. Red, for example is a very high rate of vibration. Deep blue is among the slowest. I recommend keeping your eyes shut the whole time.

Most of the meditation music that I bought, was effective, but very long. I decided to make my own music which is made to bring the brain waves from Beta to low Alpha in less than 6 minutes, and then another music track that goes from low Alpha to low Theta in less than 6 minutes again.

The Beta to low Alpha meditation music track is available for free. The Theta music track is available to buy. There is a music link in my bio.

The Biggest Myth About Collagen Supplements Exposed

Collagen Supplements are devoured by a great deal of individuals to tone up bones and tendons, while there are others who are taking them to retrieve teen skin. But are they living under a unrealistic mirage that these collagen supplements are doing them any benefit? Let us look at the naked facts of an scary scam going on in the shade of collagen supplements.

The beginning question to inquire is – Do collagen supplements work? We all are conscious of the fact that the Collagen protein plays a essential role in our skin health and maintains our skin healthy, pliant, graceful and flexible. So, does it make any sense in eating collagen supplements for the role of anti aging?

The reply for the previous question is a big – NO.

The grounds that collagen supplements do not function as longed-for by us is that the collagen seen in collagen supplements and collagen pills is unable to absorb itself in the complicated matrix of collagen that is present in our human body.

And when we discuss about collagen in Collagen based skincare creams, the ground is the same. Scientific research has established that the collagen molecule obtained in collagen based skin creams is too large to penetrate the skin. It is prevented from entering the skin right at the upper level of our skin called Epidermis. Thus, what else to say about the lower skin levels!

So, you may end up knocking off lots of your precious time and money on rubbing collagen based skin anti aging creams, but it will end up futile without yielding any good results.

You can reconfirm these hard-core scientific results by looking up a dermatologist or by visiting any esteemed medical site.

So what is the good replacement for collagen supplements? How can you accomplish the young and healthy skin?

After a lot of research of different skincare and anti aging products, I found that the secret to achieving natural youthful skin lies not in taking collagen supplements, but in such organic essences that are clinically established able in aiding the collagen production of my own body.

This way the aim of consuming collagen supplements is attained naturally and the skin is capable to rejuvenate itself on its own revived production of collagen.

It is really a shame to see millions of dollars of hard earned consumer’s money reaching into the sacks of unscrouplous collagen supplement producers. All this is happening because the end users did not do their sufficient research on the medical reality of these collagen supplements.

Visit my web site for an comprehensive research on natural substances that have proved themselves very effective in anti aging and which increase the skin youthfulness and vigor by boosting the collagen production of the body naturally.

Work As A Domestic Cleaner In Nhs Hospital

With much emphasis on the cleanliness of hospitals at the moment, and some hospitals being chastised for poor standards of hygiene, the job of a hospital cleaner or clinical equipment domestic is of vital importance. Cleaners in the NHS report to a senior nurse or infection control nurse who will supervise their work and monitor its efficiency.

Hospital cleaners usually work shifts, often at night, and may be assigned to one area which they need to thoroughly clean, using the appropriate cleaning agents and equipment. They should be able to understand manufacturers instructions in order to use and store cleaning products, according to COSHH regulations. Their duties will include

Mopping of floors
Cleaning of all furniture, fixtures and fittings including beds, lockers and chairs
Cleaning of mirrors and glass
Safe disposal of waste, both clinical and non clinical
Cleaning of bathrooms and toilets
Cleaning at both low and high levels, including high up windowsills and curtain rails
Moving furniture in accordance with hospital health and safety guidelines in order to clean effectively
Any specific cleaning duties as requested by supervisors
Working in a team with other domestic cleaners
Being polite to staff and members of the public
Undertaking any training e.g. health and safety as necessary
Maintaining confidentiality of patients

Cleaners will need to wear a hospital uniform and any other clothing or protective wear as indicated by the particular job e.g. masks, gloves or scrub suits. They must report any accidents immediately and use the appropriate form, as well as telling supervisors of any problems they are encountering, or any areas of the hospital where e.g. an infestation has occurred.

The qualities required for this job are non-academic. Cleaners spend all their time on their feet, bending and stretching and so need to have fitness and flexibility. They need to have a good standard of personal hygiene and attention to detail. They will also sometimes have to deal with materials which are unpleasant. The pay for domestic cleaners in a hospital will be from 5.87 to 6.50 per hour.

Shifting Hospital Buying Criteria Are Transforming Medical Device Sales Strategies

Working as an executive coach and strategy consultant within the healthcare marketplace provides a unique perspective. Over the past couple of years Ive found myself engaged in projects with global, multi-billion dollar medical device corporations, leading teaching hospitals, information technology leaders, investor-driven start-ups, and regional hospital systems. It has delivered an interesting vantage point to witness the foreshadowing healthcare reform has donned across the landscape. While many of the changes are still yet to come, the impetus of change is already rippling through the sector.

Having the opportunity to see things unfold from both sides of the medical device/hospital, producer/consumer relationship does not go unappreciated. It is a privileged overlook that reveals not only the drivers behind a rapidly changing marketplace, but the initiatives both sides of this symbiotic relationship are scrambling to implement.

Two major shifts are occurring, one leading inevitably to the other. First, hospitals are moving towards evidence-based care. I know this may sound a bit odd and disconcerting to the lay person (i.e. patient) who looks towards medicine and the practice of it as science. Is not science always evidence-based? Well yes, of course it is, in the laboratory or clinical trial. But clinical medicine is delivered through a practice. While we all trust that surgeons and physicians are guided and steeped in the science of medicine, we must also appreciate that once theyre in practice medicine continues to evolve scientifically and technologically.

Medical science does not stand still. The nearly $30 billion in annual, research tax dollars invested by the National Institutes of Health is pushing the envelope forward at an ever-accelerating pace. And this figure doesnt include the private research and development dollars of biopharmaceutical and medical device companies. In fact, it has recently been projected that humankinds scientific knowledge is doubling every five years. How many peer-reviewed, clinical studies can we expect even the finest surgeons and medical practitioners to read every year? Surgeons and physicians do the best they can to keep pace with the state of the science, but traditionally, they practice medicine within a relatively small community of peers, institutions, and colleagues. The practice of clinical medicine, unlike many other technologically-driven industries, has been fragmented. All of the critical-to-quality variables that have been captured, analyzed, and applied in aeronautics, electronics, software, automotive engineering, pharmaceutical manufacturing, even the frying of the perfect fast-food french fry have been unattainable in clinical medicine. Until now.

The federal requirements for automating patient records is unleashing a new age in medicine. And patient records are just the beginning. The application of informatics, the ability to capture large, statistically significant pools of clinical data regarding demographics, genetics, presenting conditions, treatments, surgical procedures, peri-operative care, and patient outcomes is driving a seismic shift in how medicine will be practiced in the future. It is probably the last frontier, the last industry to benefit from transposing raw data into cogent information that will dramatically effect quality, costs, and the standardization of processes to optimize both of these factors simultaneously.

Healthcare Credentials From CRNE Exam to Accredited Pharmaceutical Courses

Healthcare credentials matter for many professions. Sometimes it’s a matter of the school providing the right certification and membership training and sometimes a graduate must pass a professional exam. In some cases there is regular re-testing and mandatory skill upgrades.

When you think about the immense responsibility that a healthcare professional has, this makes a great deal of sense. Firstly, healthcare workers are in a position of trust. People are predisposed to believe people who work in medicine and health and see them as authority figures. Healthcare workers deal with people in a state of vulnerability, either those who don’t have all their facilities or who are immobilized or in pain, or simply in the intimacy of a patient’s home in the case of a nurse or a personal support worker. For these reasons, training from nursing through to pharmaceutical courses will also include an ethics component.

Teaching ethics isn’t just about the simple concepts of right from wrong. It’s also hard questions, for example when to notify patients about a diagnosis, who is privy to confidential patient information and what to do where the patient may have been involved in criminal activity or is a victim of abuse. Sometimes ethical questions may involve choices like whether or not to administer a treatment that could extend a patient’s life but increase suffering. This is one of the reasons why the CRNE exam is constructed using input from working nurses and will have realistic case studies as examples.

Professional accreditation also makes sure that the healthcare worker has skills that are up to date. New medical research is occurring constantly. Treatments that were used in the past may be deemed ineffective or even actively harmful, while dosages and administration methods are being carefully refined. Pharmaceutical courses are expected to be current and be structured to train students the most modern practices. Courses taught several decades ago could hardly be expected to predict the plethora of drugs that are available today. In the past, antibiotics were constantly over prescribed, but modern know-how teaches us that this can be actively harmful to collective health or even the safety of the patient.

Another trend that encourages accreditation is increasing regulation and the legal due diligence to prevent litigation. Much like a restaurant will make sure it has qualified staff with a food safety certificate, medical facilities will hire staff that can prove they have a solid background. Professional organizations help compliance with regulations and care standards. For example, there is little oversight on who may call themselves a nurse, but a registered nurse, the kind that can work semi-autonomously in providing healthcare, must pass a national CRNE exam.

Visit Academy of Applied Pharmaceutical Sciences (AAPS) Inc. for more information on credentials like a food safety certificate.

What Is Guided Discovery In Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Commonly asked questions by people learning about Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) are –

What is guided discovery?
Is it about the therapist directing the client?
Is Socratic dialogue the same thing as guided discovery?
How do I offer guided discovery?

One thing for sure, is that the concept often feels overwhelming when we first try this type of approach.

My view point is that, guided discovery, can be one of the most beneficial interventions used within CBT. In a nut-shell, guided discovery is a process that a therapist uses to help his or her client reflect on the way that they process information. Through the processes of answering questions or reflecting on thinking processes, a range of alternative thinking is opened up for each client. This alternative thinking forms the blueprint for changing perceptions and behaviours.

Essentially, it could be suggested that a client approaching a CBT therapist is initially functioning at a mindless level. This is not to say that a client is ignorant or not able to think. Rather, that the client has a range of automatic cognitive processes that are being allowed to run without intervention. Some of these thinking processes may have been developed in childhood, while others may directly result from an immediate mood state.

A useful analogy for guided discovery is to think about going to an opticians for an eye test. The optician may initially put a contraption on their clients head with a range of lenses on it. Initially, their clients cannot see through this contraption very well (i.e., what they perceive is a blur). The optician then sets about gradually removing or replacing lenses, and after a while, through a process of trial and error (and feedback from the client) each individual begins to see more clearly.

Guided discovery works in exactly the same way as the above example. Except, instead of using optical lenses, the CBT therapist helps the client use lenses of perception. Perceiving information is a different way allows each client to access a range of choices in their life, ostensibly, to see their life through different lenses. When we view life in a different way our emotional reaction to events also shifts. These types of continued conscious re-evaluations in CBT are very important because they lay the foundations of future automatic thinking and make relapse less likely.
